Top Ten Ways To Make Passive CPA Income

toptenOver the last decade, my company has spent millions of dollars on paid advertising to send traffic to CPA offers.

Below is a list of ways that we made free passive income from CPA offers without having to spend any money.

1. Display Banners

At one point we had dozens of sites built in a variety of different niches that we were operating in. We used a free banner script downloaded from OpenX.com to rotate different size banners on these web sites.

Some of these web sites were solely created to please Google Adwords.  Although we never drove any paid traffic to the main page of the web sites, they did end up get free SEO traffic (it is amazing what can happen when you try to please Adwords).

We monetized this free traffic by rotating 728×90, 300×250 and 160×600 banners provided by the CPA network for different offers.

2. Thank You Page

I am a big proponent of creating big email lists and I believe the fastest way to do it is to buy traffic.

But this can get expensive quickly and if you don’t have a good one-time offer to help pay for these front-end costs, you might give up sooner then you should.

We use CPA offers to help pay for these paid costs by placing CPA offers on the confirmation page right after the prospect gives their email address.

If you place a banner for a very targeted CPA offer, this works extremely well.

3. Forum Signature Footers

There are literally thousands of different forums online on almost every conceivable topic.

Most forums allow you to create a forum signature with your own information and outgoing links.

Some of these outgoing links can easily be a link to a related CPA offer. For example, if you were posting in a gardening forum, you could link out to a good quality gardening CPA offer.

4. Email Footers

In my many years of creating email lists in dozens of markets, I always took advantage of using the postscript section of each email to do a promotion.

If we found a CPA offer that fit the topic of the email list, we didn’t hesitate to place a promo for it in a P.S. of one of the autoresponder messages.

5. Squidoo Lenses

I used to have my staff create Squidoo lenses on certain niches so that I could show good quality outgoing links on web sites created to please Google Adwords (…man the things we had to do for Adwords).

These Squidoo lenses ended up getting ranked quite high in Bing and Yahoo and received a lot of free traffic.

We used to place outgoing links on these Squidoo lenses to related CPA offers.

6. Domain Names

This is not quite a free method, but you can register a domain on some domain registrars for as little as $0.99.

We still occasionally register misspellings of popular domain names and redirect the traffic to a related CPA offer.

Once you register the domain and redirect it through a good converting CPA offer link, this truly is passive income.

7. Online Classified Ads

There are hundreds of reputable online classified sites. You can easily post CPA offers on a lot of these sites in a related category.

I would speak with your affiliate manager first if this is allowed because most CPA networks will not allow you to post CPA offers on big classified sites like Craigslist or Kijiji.

Unfortunately a lot of affiliates abused places like Craigslist with misleading ads for CPA offers and that is why a lot of CPA network don’t allow this type of promotion anymore.

8. SlideShare.net

Do you have an old popular blog post or article sitting around?

Turn it into a powerpoint presentation and upload it to SlideShare.net.

Make sure you include a link out to a related CPA offer at the beginning or end of your powerpoint presentation. 😉

9. Blog Comments

There are many blogs online that get thousands of visitors per day.

You can easily find a blog on any topic and start commenting on the blog posts.

I highly recommend that your comments add value to the discussion and if you do that, placing a related CPA offer link will not seem so obtrusive.

10. YouTube

YouTube is the second largest search engine online and a highly ranked video can get you a lot of traffic.

I know a lot of affiliates who made a lot of money posting popular videos that ended up going viral.

By including a link to a CPA offer at the beginning of the video description and in the video itself, a lot of these affiliates crushed it.

That is my top ten list of passive CPA promotions.

What other methods can you think of to get free passive income from CPA offers?

Information Kills

I spent the last few days cleaning up my laptop and moving a lot of items to a cloud server so that I could access certain items on any computer or tablet with an Internet access.

It is interesting because I noticed that I had ton of Internet marketing ebooks, PDFs, mp3s and videos from the last 13 years!

These are items that I said that I would get to one day and review.

That was 13 years ago… lol

stressedI think the biggest challenge that most marketers have these days (especially new marketers) is information overload. I am guilty of suffering from this myself.

This can KILL your chances for success.

Making money online comes down to two factors in my opinion, which is time and focus.

Time is much more valuable than money because it is something that you can’t get back.

In order to make a large income online, you need to balance your time between family and business.

Then you need to balance the time in your business between attaining knowledge and taking action.

Most of us attain knowledge on Internet marketing by downloading reports, reading articles and buying courses. But with so much information out there, you end up in the same situation that most people do.

A hard drive full of stuff that you have told yourself that you will get back to.

Guess what?

You never will, so don’t kid yourself.

So in order to clean up my hard drive and get through the information overload, I simply deleted items that didn’t align with my main focus.

My main focus is paid traffic and really nothing else.

I deleted all marketing materials that were SEO or social media related. Most of this information was over two years old any ways and would probably be out of date.

Any reports or information that was over three years old, I automatically deleted. This literally cleaned up 75% of the Internet marketing content I had sitting on my hard drive for years.

If you want to get past information paralysis, I suggest you do the same and simply focus on items that align with your business strategies.

I feel like I just lifted a load off my shoulders… and my laptop. 😉

What do you do to get past the info overload? Comment below.

Media Buying In 2013

Last weekend, I held my sold-out Media Buying workshop in Toronto and it was a great success.  The attendees loved the content and everything ran on schedule without any hiccups.  Media buying is something that I now believe anyone who is looking for online traffic should invest in.  I am far from a media buying expert, so I had some of the most talented media buying experts fly in and teach their tactics and strategies on profitable media buying.

The attendees were taught all the ins and outs of media buying and some even commented to me that they could not sleep after Saturday’s session.  So much brand new information for many of them to process on just the first day.

The amount of traffic that is available through media buying is absolutely mind-boggling.  For example, Sitescout delivers anywhere from 15-20 billion banner impressions per day and this is just remnant traffic!  This means that there are hundreds of billions of impressions available through media buying on a daily basis.

One of the speakers, Steve Gray, said it best when he referred to media buying as a mechanical process such as with any paid advertising. The secret ingredient to success in media buying is the marketing funnel that starts once a prospect clicks on your banner. Steve delivered stellar content over two presentations and really went into detail on how to work with ad networks and insertion orders.

I have to admit that for the longest time, I thought media buying was limited to big brands and people who had no issue promoting fake blogs and fake articles.  But it was smart marketers like Steve Grey who opened my eyes to the fact that you can make big money promoting real valuable products and services with media buys if you do it right.

He has literally built multi-million dollar businesses in various markets from only display banners in the past few years.

With the advent of real-time bidding networks such as Sitescout, EngageBDR and others, this changes the game for the little guy.  You can now get started with just a few hundreds dollars and start tapping into billions of impressions of targeted remnant traffic on any of these RTB networks.  Got an idea for a new product or service?  Test it with banner ads for as little as $0.05 CPM (every one thousands impression) and see what the response is.

Sunday was another stellar day with the big boys from Sitescout (Ratko and Matt) putting on technical presentations on how real-time bidding networks, retargeting and mobile media buying work.

What really hit me was when Ratko spoke about the explosive growth of RTB traffic and how it is going to grow dramatically over the next few years. For instance, RTB advertising will double in 2015 and continue to be the fastest form of online advertising this decade.

I also had some fun with the attendees and showed them some of my failed media buying campaign attempts. But I also showed them some winning campaigns and with the knowledge gained from the workshop, I hope to scale those winning campaigns up.

I want to personally thank all the speakers, Mike Collela, Greg Davis, Stevy Gray, Matt Sauls and Ratko Vidakovic who shared this wisdom and intelligence this past weekend.

I also want to thank all the attendees who flew in from as far away as Hong Kong for making it a great interactive experience and providing great questions to the speakers.

The Art Of Story Telling

The next few days will mark the three year anniversary passing of a good friend and smart marketer by the name of Raj Shahani.  Tragically his life ended short, but he left a lasting impression on all the people around him with his enthusiasm and insights.

The first time I ever communicated with Raj was when he emailed me to ask about my Pay Per Click Formula course.  All he wrote in his email was “Is this real?”  I replied, “It is as real as you want it to be…”  After that we become good friends and he went on to become on of my most successful students.  One of the skills that made Raj successful was the importance of story-telling in the marketing process.

I have included a video below where Raj talks about story-telling and we also cover the social proofing aspect of fake blogs and fake articles.  Although very unethical, you can still learn a lot from these fake blogs and fake articles.  They are basically story telling and you can take the marketing concepts from these blogs to create ethical advertising campaigns.

One of Raj’s favourite projects was trying to get clean water to people in the world who did not have access to it.  He worked closely with Charity Water to raise enough money to build fresh water wells.  His memorial page is still active at Charity Water and you can donate at any time – Raj’s Charity Water Memorial Page

Raj, thanks for being an inspiration to all,
